Why no Europe to South America fares?

Trying to book OSL-GRU but it seems that it's not possible.

Why is that?

Because it's miles out the way!

Try Oslo Dxb then Dxb gru as separate tickets as that's likely how it would price.

I suspect ba via London would be cheaper.

Would imagine that Oslo to São Paulo via Dubai is a good routing if you're keen to keep the fare high !!

Maybe go via KUL instead .....?

Unless you are on a mileage run (or plan for stopover in DXB), it's just plain nuts cause you'll be flying the wrong direction on the first leg.

You have option of flying from OSL x LHR x GRU (BA), OSL x FRA x GRU (LH) or OSL x CDG/AMS x GRU (AF/KL).

It is a bit surprising since EK publishes fares on much longer out-of-the-way routes (JFK-DXB-LOS, for example- a friend flew them this Christmas and they were the cheapest option in Y).

There are fares from CAI to GRU, so if you want to stick with EK, you could position yourself to CAI and then fly from there.

Maybe because LOS (and CAI) are generally less-served airports with no really appealing alternatives?

As another fun example, Emirates sells MRU-SEZ routings, but not MRU-JNB. You can also go from LOS to CMN or LAD, but apparently not to other west African destinations.

On the other hand, Emirates publishes fares on routes like SFO-ICN or SEA-NRT, which are also monumentally out of the way and on which there are tons of alternatives.

Qatar Airways used to publish, and indeed had promotional fares, on BCN-DOH-GRU, which seemed crazy.
