Yep, the above pretty much covers it, except rinse and repeat for any US/NA TPAC gateway. JFK, ORD, DFW, BOS, LAX, SFO, YVR, YYZ (?), EWR, etc. Find the TPAC leg options first and then find out how to get yourself to them using AA domestic flights. 99% of the time syncing up the connecting flight once in the Asian hub is easy - award space is usually good and scheduled flights plentiful.
