All I'm seeing are $4.99/month or $49.99/year as a subscription. I'd really rather not subscribe. I don't mind paying, but would prefer one-time paying over paying every single month

Can't say that's a feature I've ever tried. My main use is to scan copies of my important IDs, ever-changing credit cards, and receipts, be it for expensing or warranty safekeeping).
