I do often get asked for ID
and credit card in the US. Possibly because I'm a non-US resident. In the UK where I reside, I have never been asked for ID and rarely have to show my card. (Occasionally I get asked and I say use the card 'on file' - rarely they will still ask to see the card - likely when they don't trust me!)

Sorry. Had to add this. I follow a few boards in the air, hotel and cruising. The term FRAUD pops up from time to time, and really gets to me. It assumes someone is trying to steal or fraudulently take money from another. This is considerably different than a billing or process error. Fraud is just too strong of a word, unless of course it is really fraud.
