I know several Surface Pro 3 owners; all of them got it to replace a subnotebook PC, not as an expensive alternative to the iPad. I don't know if they
also use it as a tablet off-hours, but workday use is 75%+ desktop apps.
About the only use I ever see for them
at work without the keyboard attached is for note-taking and document review, and it occurs to me I have no idea what apps they're using for that and whether they're desktop or metro (when I'm reading on my somewhat similar Dell convertible, I use the desktop versions of the reader programs.)
