I got the 15K miles offer last week for $500 spend in each of the months of Jan, Feb, and Mar 2016. My annual renewal is due to be billed this month (January), and my spending pattern on the card was to do the spend required for the sign-up bonus, and then toss the card in my socks drawer.
Perhaps over eight months with no charges was a factor in my being targeted.
