It took 2 billing cycles for miles to post to husband's AA account on a card opened on 11/03. The Nov miles earned from Spend did not go over to AA but we did not realize it. It was when the Dec statement closed, with the 50K + 10K match bonus, and the spend miles, not showing up on AA side a week after statement closed, I took a look of his account history and realized the Nov spend miles were missing too. Usually this means the AA number is incorrect on Citi side.
Called Citi and got a super unwilling rep who did not want to take a look of account history but insisted the AA number was the same as we told him. Sent an email to AAdvantage just for the experiment.
Also sent an SM to Citi asking it to verify the AA number.
Miraculously the miles all showed up a day later on AA side, including the November earning but it was lumped into the Dec earning number. 50K posted as bonus, 10K posted as adjustment.
What is even more impressive, AAdvantage called the following day to tell him everything was posted. AAdvantage rep said the AA number Citi sent in was wrong but AA had fixed it and sent it back to Citi. Now everything is posted. She reminded me to make sure Citi now has the correct number associated the card. I was really impressed.
Meanwhile Citi replied about Nov and Dec miles are now combined to post because the AA number was finally "verified". (The Nov statement has a short 10 days cycle while Dec starts the normal cycle.) Citi also confirmed the AA number in writing and it is the correct one associated to the card.
So for those of you who are still waiting for your miles, it might not be a bad idea to also email AAdvantage using the email form online to ask AA look into the matter.
