I'd add that, mostly if you're interested in elite status with AA, buying economy and upgrading with miles/copay does not earn the 2x EQMs and 1.5x bonus miles that you'd earn if you buy business outright (http://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/ea...s/american.jsp)
