Right. Pitch actually isn't a great measurement.
It's from the back of your seat to the back of the seat in front of you. Which means if your seat is thick, the distance you actually care about (the FRONT of your seat to the back of the seat in front of you) is reduced.
I don't remember what airline or aircraft I was on, but the back seat cushion must have been four inches thick. Sure, they had decent pitch, but the effective room was horrible.
