The precheck lane itself closes at 7pm or 730p, but the secuity checkpoint closes much later (1030p?). If you arrive after 7-730p, you still get "precheck lite" - take liquids and laptop out of your bag, but walk though the metal detector. Depending on the day, you will need to likely scan your paper boarding pass on a second machine near the metal detector to show them you are "authorized" to go through. Some of the time they will let you use a mobile BP, but not guaranteed.
