I thought that when they used the 77W on that route it was weight restricted though.
It has never been passenger restricted once the MTOW was increased, though sometimes cargo gets left behind or non-revenue passengers won't be seated.
But if a 77L is operating MEL and 789 BNE, cargo could easily be split between the cities and eliminate those issues.
