I do think compensation of some sort is in order. I expect peace and quiet at night, and if my sleep is disturbed because of something that happens on hotel property, a free breakfast/Starbucks stored-value card/something-like-that is not too much to ask.

Having said that, don't expect much more than a "so sorry" at a Best Western. At the Sheraton, Marriott or Hilton, yes, indeed...
