E-Vouchers are not electronic it turns out

Booked and paid for first class ticket four weeks+ ago with an AA-issued e-voucher. No ticket yet and I fly in three days. When I have called, the phone agents assume I did not enter the number and pin correctly, but then confirm that I did and are astonished that it has not ticketed. Two have tried several things to get it to ticket. The last agent, a supervisor, checked with her supervisor and then came back to tell me that ticketing is so backed up that they are now processing tickets on the day of travel. She was very sympathetic to my concern (my first flight leaves at 5:00 a.m. out of an airport with only minimal, contract staff) and sounded entirely disgusted to have to tell me what the situation is.

So, in 2015 e-vouchers and gift certificates have to pass through human hands. If AA is going to continue to do it this way, they could at least hire enough human hands.
