If I fly to the East Coast, now I get about 10000 for a roundtrip for 5000 BIS miles. If I buy a ticket for $300 on the new plan, I get 8 x 300 or 2400 miles

There's no love for the new award chart here in Europe either.
I have three business class awards booked for next year:
Europe - Asia 2
Asia 2 - South Pacific
South Pacific - Europe
Total cost in miles was 147,500. Under the new system? 200,000.
It's not like I can even get one of the credit cards with massive 75,000 mile signup bonuses. The best I've seen on the UK card was 20,000.
