For AS, I often find the AS metal flights with AA codes for about the same price, maybe a few $$ higher, so you can book that way and get 1EQP multiplier instead of .5

Not always the same for BA, but clearly some may see an incentive for booking AA codes on the deep discount business class fares that we keep seeing.
