It's a good 10 years off, but plans have been announced to build a new SJO out in the far western Central Valley, near the town of Orotina. Lower elevation, flatter terrain, easier approaches and takeoffs, less fog at night, ... That would put the Central Pacific beaches within quick and easy driving distance.
