I am in a similar situation here. I have an upcoming RT to NRT in December and that would qualify me for CX Gold. I am now a Platinum on Advantage (through their challenge program) and will credit everything to AA come Jan 1, 2016. That way, I should hopefully reach AA EXP before my CX Diamond runs out by July 2016.

What ultimately did it for me are these two changes in the new system:
(i) the mid-tier benefits system: It is completely illogical to me that as a renewing DM to get none of the mid-tier benefits of a GO member. A GO member on his/her way to DIA will get 4 bookable upgrades at 1,000 CP while as a renewing DM, I get nothing. It will also take me until 1600 club points to get 4 bookable upgrades. In AA, I get 4 SWU's at each EXP renewal. CX is telling me that as a loyal DM member, if I don't fly enough to reach 1,600 club points in a year, I do not deserve the upgrade benefits even as a GO member who might not be able to even reach a DM tier.

(ii) the water-down guaranteed economy and business class seats. By changing guaranteed economy to only Y class, this effectively made a previous real benefit to be a non-benefit given that in most cases Y class has seats left anyway.

CX should adjust their loyalty program to what works best for them. However, I cannot help but be a little saddened that after being a DM for since 2008, there seems to be so little considerations CX have put in to retain the DM members. CX seems to be out to weed out what they considered to be unworthy DM members who are not flying regular long haul F.
