So I've been to The Philippines many times but never stayed more than the 30 days.
I have been wanting to go for more than the 30 days though and have been looking at the 29 day extension, however I am unsure if I can book a flight for say 6 weeks and actually be allowed to board if I do not get the extension until I arrive.
Also been thinking that due to knowing how difficult it is to get any official things done in certain places within the Philippines, maybe it would be easier to just leave the country for 24 hours and re-enter but I am unsure on their policy towards this.

You will be asked for an onward ticket out of the country when you check in for your flight there. It just has to be a ticket out of the Philippines, it does not mater 'when'.
You can get the extension done yourself pretty easily at an immigration office, though if you are on vacation and dont want to trouble with it there are a million agents/fixers that will handle the leg work for a nominal fee. ANY hotel could get it done for you. It's no big deal.
