I do think that Qantas have one of the leading PY hard and soft products out there, but that said I'd rather travel Business or First
I wouldn't ever buy full fare QF PY (although for businesses this may be a good choice) but it can have some attraction when it's on sale (and Business is overpriced). All up though, it just comes down to individual circumstances and priorities for each trip, which will differ from person to person. It's just there, and you can choose to upgrade to it or pay for it if you want, and if you don't then don't.
Agreed that paying full fare for PY is silly and it being a very good product (though not as good with some of the ME carriers).
I've tried it once and will soon be trying it again for free (thanks QF!) going in the other direction MEL-LAX. Maybe it will seem more worthwhile now given I'll be awake.
That being said, if I keep on getting complimentary upgrades QF can't be pricing it particularly well. If PE becomes the equivalent of First Class on Domestic American carriers (i..e its there but people typically complimentary upgrade to it) that would be great.
Ah. I can feel that extra 2 inches of seat width already and the people I can already feel the high quality people.
