I apologize if this has been asked and answered but I did a search and failed to find a good answer. My wife and I are going on a 30th anniversary trip. SFO-Dubai and then Dubai-Rome (14 hour layover). I have 2 questions: We both want window seats. We can get 1K/ 2K or 2/3K----what do you recommend?

Also, is the in airport hotel a good idea for the layover--and does it allow us to stay in the terminal and avoid dealing w/customs and immigration on the way out of Dubai. Many thanks for your time and your thoughts!!
