What was your strategy when you cleared at the gate? i.e. did you board late on purpose knowing they might call you, or did they tell you to wait, or did they come and get you in the coach seat?

My HKG trip is two weeks out and this one is looking good with only 7 seats assigned on the way out and 16 assigned on the return. Its around the US thanksgiving holiday, so I'm still optimistic.
