As mentioned above, the red coat asks for your e-mail address and the e-mail shows up instantaneously. You have two months to actually make your selection.

This is from the Terms & Conditions for the Amex card on the selection website:
"CARD EXPIRES ON THE DATE PRINTED ON THE FRONT OF THE CARD."
Capitalization is theirs. Maybe they can get away with that because they call it a "Reward Card" instead of a "Gift Card?"
