Regarding my post above - my concern is that my seats aren't actually confirmed, since it shows that wording "during check-in you can again choose or change seats". Could they have been taken for Crew Rest or for a Fire Marshall?
I tried to find on the KLM site a way to see a seat map, thinking that if the flight is now full that could be why I don't have the option to change seats, but only saw that you need to do it through My Trip - and that way yields the result I described in the above post.
So I tried doing a dummy booking in business class, but that didn't give me the option to select a seat and view a seat map either.
So, I just got a trial subscription to EF and see that currently there are 7 seats marked available in business:
3K
4K
72K
73K
77K
78J 78K
I'm posting here to try to find out if it's normal that at 12 days before the flight you lose the ability to change your seat or even look at the seat map?
Would any of you frequent KLM flyers be concerned at this point that your seat assignments weren't confirmed?
Not to worry, it sometimes happens with KL (I have no idea why but maybe some of our forum experts can pitch in).
As long as EF shows your seats as taken you should be fine.
Regarding crew rests and air marshals, they will usually be on the upper deck near the cockpit for obvious reasons and not in the nose of the lower deck of the 747
