While on topic, you can also run to Rio for almost 30k points on AA who sell quite often cheap fares 600€ style, and get a nice vacation. Is it then a MR is your own business. With status you will get fairly OK seats too, layover in JFK depends
Rio is nice combined MR and vacation (worth it IMO) but doesn't work as pure MR destination. The cheapest AA fares to Latin America have normally 10 day minimum stay requirement.
