I wouldn't do it online.
When I was booking it that way for LAX-DXB (and Z=2), when I made the first reservation online, the second seat disappeared. When I cancelled the booking, only one seat went back into inventory.
I ended up calling in and an agent made a single PNR but withdrew miles from 2 accounts for DFW-DXB instead.
