A P25K is extremely unlikely to get a gate upgrade on a TPAC, even in Latitude.
I eupgraded my wife (no status) on my shared PNR both ways YVR-HKG successfully in Feb from an N fare.
AC7 confirmed at T-7 (R=3)
AC8 confirmed at the gate for both of us. I cleared when the flight closed. She cleared 30 minutes before departure. She got the the very last seat in J.
Doable. But, it's a rare event.
