Acela or even the regionals are very popular for PHL-DCA (or PHL-NYC (or DC-NY)). For the DC-NY trips, arriving at Penn Station is often better than arriving at any NYC airport from a post-trip-travel requirement.

Absolutely. Plus I get far better service on Acela with a full meal in first class even on a short segment. I'd never fly unless I had to connect for some reason or another.
