Lyft rates where I am are 80 cent base charge, $1.10/mile and 21 cents per minute. Cabs fares end up being 2-3X as expensive. You can e-mail support if you feel like you were overcharged. Lyft gives you the option of tipping through the app, Uber does not. You really should tip the drivers though, especially on short trips.
