Thank you. I'm planning a trip from IAD-MUC using Delta miles. I'd rather fly AF for the single connection but might go with VS and an extra connection for guaranteed flat beds. Next September's schedule for IAD-CDG currently shows some days with just an A380, some days with just a 4 class 77W, and some days with both an A380 and a 772.
We are talking Sep 2016, so a lot of things can change in the next year.
Personally, I add one connection to avoid NEV seats on very longhaul.
But there should be several other options that do not force you to an additional connection. Like flying through ATL (or possible through AMS).
