My girlfriend & I each booked awards milage saver tickets on AA to Rio (GIG) for 40,000 miles each. She and I both each have a Barclay's Aviator & Citi AA Advantage card.

I paid the taxes using my Citi AA Advantage card and my girlfriend paid her taxes using her Barclay Aviator card....We need to check many suitcases for this trip.

We are both hoping to use the first checked bag free benefit on Barclay's Aviator & Citi AA Advantage card for a grand total of 4 free checked bags.....


Any data points on how this will or will not work?
