This got sufficently annoying that I turned on IE's built in tracing tools to see if I could find anything that might help. I'm not a web, HTML or network expert, so my analysis may be of no use!
Working from the bottom of the traces I found that this URL appears to bounce off to those annoying sites via some form of redirect:
- http://hlamedia.adk2x.com/imp?p=70152383&size=728x90&ap=1300&ct=html
If I then scan the rest of the trace backwards for the first HTTP request / response that refers to that domain (typically some script that has the domain embedded, that presumably gets executred to GET the URL) and repeating until I get back to FT I have:
- http://cdn.performance.hlads.com/hlamedia/tags/xbanner/xbanner.js?ap=1300
- http://showads.pubmatic.com
- http://ad.doubleclick.net
- http://www.flyertalk.com
I'm not sharing full GETs as they contain various tags and markers that may or may not identify me in some way.
