I almost forgot. Since you are a UA Platinum you could request a status match on Alaska. Depending on how much travel you have in the near future you may want to wait until I think October and match for 2016. (if you did it now you would only be matched for 2015)

I have heard about the status match program and will look into it today and likely sign up later this year. Obviously it won't help me with this flight but of course for future travel. This kind of help and assistance is why I registered with FT, thanks again to all.
