X/V = Special
T/Q/L = Saver
U/B/M/W = Flex
R/E/Y = Flex Plus
For some routings they are a little bit "flexible" with the fare type/booking class, i.e an O class can be a Special or a Saver.
I guess since the new fare branding the idea is to get away from the booking classes and just booked the fare type (actually it doesn't make a difference for the regular customer if he books an U oder a W class as both are Flex and have the same conditions)
But I can see the problem occurring when your ticket is booked by agent or company. When prices are not indicated when asked to choose preferred flight, the code is the only way to know if the ticket is flex, saver, etc.
