How easy/fast is transfer at PVG from AA to KA without checked bags?
Hi,
I'm planning a final MR on AA (to complete 30K miles by 10/9 for Exec Plat for the 8 systemwide upgrades).
I could go visit a friend in Tokyo for the weekend 10/3-4, but a second cheaper option (~$700 vs ~$1000, depending on the economy seat premiums) is Hong Kong.
That routing is LAX - PVG - HKG - PVG - LAX. (~5.4cpm, assuming no miles on DragonAir!)
I fly AA to PVG arr. 4:10pm then need to transfer to KA flight dep. at 6:30pm. I'll have no checked bags and have both a US and UK passport (anticipate leaving US on US passport). So is that transfer in Shanghai doable and preferably free? What are the complications that I need to consider?
If it looks "too risky", I'll just do the Tokyo run. I get enough miles and it's easy! Advice welcome!
