Good question, I wondered about this too. I was in Turku and Tampere (in Finland) this summer to have a look at the Holiday Inns. The one in Tampere was quite ugly, you are correct, but the new one is in a better spot and looks ok. Turku shutting down was news to me.

I was going to try the CP in Copenhagen at some point, but I'm also disappointed in the lack of any hotels in Sweden or Norway. Business is slow perhaps?
