It's not even worth it to me to try to negotiate it up front or get into a back-and-forth if they "guarantee" my seat and then end up reseating me anyway. Volunteering should inherently be an appreciated thing for the airline/GA. And I am the one who would jump at the very first offer. Instead of being accepted and appreciated, though, Delta has made it another reason to add stress and frustration to an ordinary passenger who showed up on time and has a valid boarding pass. Why go through that? Again this is just based on my experiences. I guess I've been unlucky
