You could try something like this:
It's basically a monitor (with HDMI inputs, speakers, etc) built into a small hardside case, which also has room for a video game console or other stuff of roughly that size.
But you could easily use it as a carry-on bag, put other stuff in it, and then use it along with your notebook PC as a portable monitor.
