I called Verizon again this morning and got passed on from general tech support past the automated porting information and into a special porting tech support desk. Their direct number is 866-245-9007. After about five minutes on hold, I was told that both of my numbers would be ready within five hours, or by 2pm Central.
I thought while I was on hold they might have done a manual port as NickP suggested. But, it's 3pm and still nothing.... calling my number gets my Sprint phone ringing.
I am going to give them until 5pm and then call from my landline speaker phone and then I'm going to start asking for supervisors.
Oh, and I bought my phones at Circuit City as they had the best rebates on the models I wanted, including an extra $25 gift card per phone.
