Since this is not the BA forum, the smart money is on aliens.

AAdvantage awards utilizing a partner carrier as the "over-water" carrier are dependent on the published through-fare rules of the partner carrier. This is nothing new.
Okay.

I don't know if EY allows AUH-IAD/BWI-ORD in regards to airport change. However there is a published fare between the two points. Might need to check EF.
