Thanks everyone for sharing your stories. Some data point of mine to share. I just applied the UA personal and Ink last week and few days later already got the denied letter stating that too many requests in past. I was surprised as I don't usually get the letter so soon, it seems the process tightened so based on some numbers they can quickly reject applications. I still haven't received a denied letter for the Ink application.
I only have 2 to 3 pulls on Equifax (what Chase usually pull) but I have opened up quit some accounts in the past 2 years (around 10). I recently lowered all my CL with Chase as they did mentioned in my last application that they couldn't extend more credits for me.
It seems that Chase now focus on the number new accounts opened (just like what Barclay does) rather than looking at the number of pulls as I never get auto approval even when there's only 0 or 1 pull in Equifax. That sucks as I kept trying to lower my pulls by combining application and I could be opening new accounts with other banks and not Chase but still get rejected for trying to get a Chase card!
Now after reading the posts I am worried to call and get the rejection message again. Any suggestion on what I should do next, how should I prepare for the dreaded call? Should I ask to talk to a senior analyst if get rejected again? Thanks very much for any tip and help
