A few interesting observations around OptionTown recently. In the past 2 months I've brought Mrs FlyingMoose with on 3 LH trips, where her ticket was in Plus and we would use both option town and advance point upgrades to attempt to secure her a C seat.
Trip 1: ARN-ORD-XXX-EWR-ARN
Outbound: OptionTown declined, Advance points declined, surprisingly at the airport she had gotten a complimentary upgrade.
Inbound: OptionTown went through.
Trip 2: ARN-CPH-SFO-CPH-ARN
Outbound: OptionTown declined, Advance points upgrade went through.
Inbound: No upgrade, C was full ahead of time.
Trip 3: ARN-CPH-PVG-CPH-ARN
Outbound: No upgrade, C was full though before we went to the airport there where 2 seats free.
Inbound: OptionTown declined, Advance points upgrade went through.
So out of 6 flights she landed 4 upgrades, which is obviously great. The summary is 2 points upgrades, 1 complimentary and 1 OptionTown. SK apparently didn't really want our money through OptionTown, I wonder why.
