For 757 and A321, UA/AA/DL all use the same type of seats in business. DL has some 767 to LAX, which is similar to the seat offered by B6. VX uses the leather recliner.
For the benefit of the OP, the meals and seats are better than "domestic first". And in the US, people use first and business interchangeably for domestic flights. Regardless of the name, it's the front of the plane, and the amenities are slightly better than domestic first, but not quite international business.
But do share why you feel UA has the poorest offering in business.
VX does not offer a premium service between JFK-LAX/SFO. It uses the same aircraft and service that it uses on all its routes [based on length of the flight, of course]. The other carriers use a dedicated "premium" configured aircraft on these flights.
AA has a first class and allows complimentary upgrades from Y to C or C to F for ExPlat members. For those upgrading with miles, there is no co-pay as there is on UA.
B6 offers far better seats than UA.
DL offers better service.
They all offer better reliability than UA.
