Similar situation, got the same denial letter and called recon and was told no, even when offering to close my Southwest cards and/or reallocate credit to open the CSP card. I also got the CSP bonus just over 2 years ago.
The rep said I had opened 6-7 cards in the past 2 years and that is too many for them to allow this card to be opened. He said it wasn't an issue with too much available credit or too many open tradelines in general. Of the 6-7 cards, I have closed 2.
Might be worthwhile to deposit $10,000 and go to the local branch to see if they can push it through. I have heard reports that having $10,000 on deposit helps.
Thanks, that's helpful. So, it sounds like at 8 app's in the last 2 yrs, my wife was even higher than your 6-7. If she waits a month or so, one of her apps will be more than 2 yrs ago, but it doesn't look as it that will help much.
I might take your suggestion and just open a joint acct online.
It would be helpful to get some data points to figure out how many apps is too many. Anyone else want to chime in?
