Just as a data point: While checking in at the horrendous queue at PVG last Wednesday night, (I was headed to SIN), ground staff were making rounds with a "FRANKFURT" sign asking for volunteers to be bumped onto the next day's flight as they had oversold. Compensation was RMB2,500pp cash. (I didnt hear them mention anything else such as hotel/upgrade etc).
