Right now, the 772 flying ORD-PEK overnights in PEK as it arrives at around 8, leaving American to pay expensive remain overnight fees (RON). The reason why they waited years to start DFW-PEK was a combination of the now defunct pilot contract and bad slot times at PEK. American finally received excellent slot times at PEK for DFW-PEK to start next week. When American does receive an afternoon landing early evening takeoff slot for ORD-PEK, as they do with DFW-PEK, the schedule will change and the 788 will likely end up being used on this route as American has indicated the 788s will be used primarily on ORD/DFW-Asia for time being.
