Why doe that matter any ways? Singapore lost me as a tourist. They need to start learning how to respect their customers (tourists.)
You sound as if you are either not a very experienced traveller or else you just go out of your way to get offended. I suspect that my second suggestion goes a long way towards explaining the treatment you receive.
