Yup if you have unlimited sms you don't have to pay. I think many people who got iPhone with data cut off their SMS plan or get one of the $5 for 100 SMS per month plan. It doesn't happen much now since most of the carriers are switching over to unlimited talk and txt... but a few years ago it is very common.

A green sms amount the sea blue iMessage means everyone has to pay for the 1 person who didn't have an iPhone.
