eternaltransit - Sounds like a pretty dramatic solution to the problem, if you don't mind me saying ......

Your suggestion is that the OP ditches his (carefully-planned) s/over in SIN, purely to become eligible for a CD car when departing from SYD, and thereby save maybe AUD$100 max ....?? The CD mileage limit for SYD is very low, so any "savings" - or additional cost, depending on your perspective - would be similarly low.
