Nevertheless, you should have the VS PNR with you when you travel in case VS agents are unable to find your reservation. This should be possible with the ticket number, but I would not want to count on this working. In fact, I think it's wise to call partner airlines (other than AF/KLM) and ask them to verify that they can see both the ticket and matching reservation in their system.
