AA changed my J tix from ONT-PHX-EWR-JFK-BHX to ONT-PHX-DFW-EWR-JFK-BHX with the same arrival and departure times and I was able to change them to LAX-LHR with no change fee. The LAX-LHR leg had open J fares though. I don't know if they would've changed me to that flight if there weren't any J fares available.
